Transformation in the country's prison system in line with the slogan of the year

According to Mehr News Agency, Gholam Ali Mohammadi, during a meeting with the general managers of prisons across the country, held a video conferencing, describing the priorities of the year: Last year, new industrial workshops were set up for prisoners' employment and will be operational in the spring.

He added: “In the support dimension, we have seen a 5 % increase in families covered by the Association of Prisoners' Support throughout the country.”

The head of the Prisons Organization, referring to the promotion of cultural and religious activities in the prisons, said: “In spiritual occasions such as the months of Rajab, Sha'ban and Ramadan, prisons have taken on more Quranic color and smell and we have seen a significant promotion in promoting the culture of prayer and the Qur'an, which led to the highest ranking in the prayer.

He went on to point out three important priorities of the organization in the new year, saying: “Transformation in the Supervision and Inspection System”, “Reducing the Criminal Population of Prisons” and “Smart and Improvement of Resource Management” are among the most important programs. He further emphasized the need for optimal management of energy and the items needed by the prisoners.

Mohammadi noted: Currently, 5 % of the prisons' judicial proceedings are currently being carried out electronically, which has played an important role in reducing the deployment and prisoners.

At the end, the head of the Prisons Organization, referring to the decline in the entry of the defendants to prisons, said that the role of the judiciary in utilizing legal capacity to reduce the criminal population was effective.
