Chad's government spokesman told AFP that the armed attack that targeted the presidential palace in the capital on Wednesday night left 19 dead, 18 of whom were armed elements.

Chad government spokesman Abdulrahman Kalamullah added that during this conflict, 18 armed elements were killed and 6 others were injured.

Kalamullah added that one of the forces of the Chad government was also killed in this conflict and three others were injured, one of them is reported to be in critical condition.

In a video shared by the spokesperson of the Chadian government on Facebook, he claimed: “It was a small incident… Everything is calm” by filming the presidential palace.

He said: The attempt to destabilize the country was completely neutralized.

AFP also announced that all the roads leading to the presidential palace were closed and the reporter of this agency published pictures of the presence of tanks in the streets of Njamena.

The shooting around the presidential palace took place an hour after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit to Chad, during which he held meetings with the President of Chad and the country's officials in the presidential palace.
