Iran's permanent delegation denied charges of smuggling advanced weapons systems from Iran to Lebanon

According to Mehr News Agency, Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations in a letter to the Security Council denied charges against Iran.

The present correspondence will be sent to the Secretary -General and Chairman of the Security Council (S/2025/28) in response to a letter dated January 6, the Israeli representative to the United Nations. In this letter, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been accused of “… … advanced weapons systems from Iran to Lebanon are explicitly violated in violation of Resolution 2 (1).” The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly denies this baseless accusation. This claim is nothing but an excuse to justify the Israeli regime's repeated violations of Resolution 2 (1) of the Security Council and its obvious disregard for the ceasefire arrangements with Lebanon. The regime has no intention of adhering to its obligations to leave southern Lebanon after a six -day ceasefire period, according to the designated requirements. Instead, the Israeli regime makes such baseless allegations to legitimize the constant occupation of Lebanon's land.

The Islamic Republic of Iran calls on the Security Council to take a decisive position and oblige the Israeli regime to fully enforce its obligations. The Security Council must force the regime to fully fulfill its obligations under the arrangements of cease -fire and Resolution 2, immediately halt its violations against Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and remove its forces from southern Lebanon without delay. Failure to take decisive actions only makes the regime more violated and endangers peace and security in the region.

It also seized the opportunity and made similar and baseless charges against the Islamic Republic of Iran by US and British representatives during a public meeting of the Security Council on January 7, under the agenda of “Cooperation between the United Nations and regional and regional organizations”.
