2 killed and 2 injured in a coal mine in northern Afghanistan

According to Mehr correspondent quoted by ShinhwaA local police official reported on Thursday that an explosion at a coal mine in Samangan province in northern Afghanistan killed at least seven workers and wounded two others.

Provincial police spokesman Heshmatullah Rahmani said the blast, which was due to a methane gas gathering in one of the coal mines in the lower Sufi valley area, killed seven miners at the scene and wounded two others.

The official said the bodies of the workers trapped were found by security personnel and medical teams and were handed over to their families.

Rahmani said the injured were transferred to a nearby medical center for treatment.
