According to Mehr news agency, quoted from PoliticoJack Smith, the special investigator of the United States Department of Justice who was responsible for pursuing two legal cases against Donald Trump, has resigned from his position on January 11.

The newspaper reported that Smith decided to resign after multiple failures by the Justice Department to advance cases against Trump.

He announced in his resignation statement that it will be practically impossible to continue pursuing these cases during the Trump presidency due to legal and political obstacles.

In the past, Smith had repeatedly accused Trump of committing various violations and demanded his trial.

He believed that Trump as the president should not enjoy judicial immunity and should be accountable for his actions like any other citizen.
