Tehran-Muscat relations ‘long-lasting, sustainable’, says Iranian foreign minister

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has hailed the long-lasting and sustainable relations between Iran with Oman, emphasizing that the expansion of ties with littoral states is top on the agenda of the incumbent Iranian administration.

“During our one-day visit, we will discuss the development of bilateral, regional and international relations with Omani officials and the country’s foreign minister (Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi),” Amir-Abdollahian told upon arrival at Muscat International Airport on Monday.

“Good neighborliness and expansion of interactions with neighboring countries are top on the foreign policy agenda of the current Iranian administration,” he said.

He added, “We hope that promotion of relations with our northern neighbors in recent months would help strengthen ties with the Persian Gulf neighbors and further expand cooperation among neighboring countries.”

The Iranian foreign minister then pointed to the quadripartite transit agreement between Iran, Oman, , and Uzbekistan, expressing hope that the accord would soon come into force between the contracting states.

Amir-Abdollahian left for Muscat on Monday morning.

The top is set to hold talks with top Omani officials on ways to enhance the political, economic, and between the two countries as well as major .

Earlier this month, Amir-Abdollahian and his Omani counterpart stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation on the international level.

The top Iranian and Omani diplomats also urged the continuation of consultations on different mutual and international issues.
