Criticism of the approval of the Human Rights Council resolution against Iran

According to Mehr News Agency, Ali Bahraini ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations in Geneva, on Thursday, April 21, 2008, during the draft and adoption of the L.20 Resolution, entitled “Human Rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran” at a meeting of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Human Rights Council. In a new swamp of the inefficiency and waste of resources, it will reduce the confidence in the council's performance.

Iran's representative said: While the most severe human rights abuses occur in Palestine and their perpetrators are of the highest level of immunity and punishment, the draft sponsors of the L.20 Resolution are trying to mislead the council by creating an illusory image of the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Bahraini added: “As a country with rich history and civilization, Iran is always proud of its achievements for humanity.”
