Syria in Last 24 Hours: Terrorists Sustain Heavy Losses in Army Offensive in Dara’a Province
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army attacked the terrorists in Dara’a province, and inflicted heavy losses on them.
The Syrian army killed and wounded scores of terrorists in different neighborhoods of Dara’a city.
The Syrian army also inflicted heavy losses on the terrorist groups in other key regions across Syria.
The Syrian Army forces engaged in fierce clashes with Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in different neighborhoods of the Southern city of Dara’a, killing 40 of them and injuring several more.
The army soldiers engaged in an intense battle with Al-Nusra in al-Manshiyeh neighborhood in Dara’a city, killing 40 terrorists and wounding some others.
In the meantime, the army fighter jets carried out several combat flights over the Al-Nusra positions in Dara’a, inflicting major losses on the militants.
The Syrian Army troops, backed up by the country’s Air Force, fended off a fresh attack of the Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) on pro-government forces’ positions in Southern Hama, inflicting major losses on the militants.
The army units engaged in fierce clashes with Al-Nusra terrorists after they attacked government forces’ strongholds in the village of al-Sat’hiyat in the Western countryside of the town of al-Salamiyah.
The army men conducted a tactical retreat from a number of positions, but took back all their lost positions in a swift counter-offensive and after the army’s artillery and missile units and aircraft pounded the al-Nusra positions behind the line of engagement.
The Al-Nusra suffered heavy casualties and its military hardware also sustained major damages in the battle.
A field commander of Jeish al-Islam terrorist group was killed in the Syrian Army troops’ operations in al-Qaboun district in Eastern Ghouta.
The army soldiers, backed up by the country’s fighter jets, continued their anti-terrorism operation near al-Qaboun and in a region between al-Qaboun and Western Harasta, and killed Commander of Brigade 17th of Jeish al-Islam terrorist group, nom de guerre Abu Amar al-Qeis.
A local source said that the army’s artillery and aircraft launched heavy attacks on terrorists’ positions in al-Qaboun simultaneous with the advances of the ground troops.
The Syrian Army troops and Air Force targeted the movements and concentration centers of ISIL South of Deir Ezzur city, paving the way for lifting the terrorists’ siege on government forces at the military airbase.
The army’s artillery and missile units opened heavy fire at ISIL’s positions in regions around Regiment 137 base, killing 14 terrorists and wounding several others.
Two military vehicles of ISIL were destroyed in the attack too.
In the meantime, the army aircraft carried out several combat flights over ISIL’s centers in areas surrounding al-Tamin Brigade base and al-Ma’amel region South of Deir Ezzur airbase, killing or wounding a number of terrorists.
Local sources, meantime, said that the dead body of Mohammad al-Jadan al-Rafi’a, one of the ISIL’s religious leaders, was found in Abu Hamam in Eastern Deir Ezzur. Al-Rafi’a had disappeared two days ago.
The Syrian Army soldiers engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL and fended off the terrorists’ offensive on government forces’ positions South of the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur) in Eastern Homs, inflicting tens of casualties on the militants.
The ISIL’s attack to prevail over the Syrian pro-government forces’ positions in Jabal (mount) al-Abtar South of Palmyra was warded off by the army soldiers.
ISIL suffered tens of casualties in the failed attack.
The army men, meantime, engaged in heavy fighting with ISIL in al-Sha’er oilfield and some other regions in Eastern Homs.
Also, the army’s artillery units opened fire at the positions and movements of the terrorists in the town of Talbiseh in Northern Homs, killing or wounding a number of them.
