Sudden floods caused widespread destruction in the eastern Afghanistan

The flood of Mehralam, the city of Mehterlam, affected the provincial capital and several provinces, destroying at least five residential houses and inflicting serious damage to local and agricultural infrastructure, Mehr reported. About 5 hectares of agricultural land were underwater, while four livestock were killed in the flood.

In addition, the flood washed 2 kilometers of rural roads and 2 meters of conservation walls in the province.

Last week, Nangarhar province, a neighbor of Laghman, also saw heavy rainfall and sudden floods that killed two people and caused extensive financial losses to local communities.

The Afghan Meteorological Office has issued new warnings about more rainfall in the coming days, raising concerns about more floods in mountainous and vulnerable areas.
