Significant increase in respiratory referrals to Ahvaz hospitals due to air pollution

According to Mehr reporter, Maysam Moazi, on Saturday evening Zar A group of journalists stated: In the last three days (19, 20 and 21 January 1403), more than 2,200 people with respiratory and heart symptoms due to air pollution have gone to different emergency rooms. Out of this number, 263 people were hospitalized due to their worsening condition and the rest were discharged after receiving outpatient services.

Emphasizing the full readiness of hospitals to provide services to patients, the vice president of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences requested citizens to refrain from unnecessary outdoor traffic on polluted days and to take special care of children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with underlying heart diseases. According to Mehr's reporter, air pollution, in addition to respiratory problems, can affect people's heart, lungs and nervous system and increase the risk of chronic diseases and even premature death.

Increasing visits of respiratory patients to hospitals during periods of air pollution in Ahvaz is a recurring phenomenon. In the past years, with the worsening of air pollution, we have seen a significant increase in the number of patients visiting medical centers.
