Russian Forces Using New Detector Robots in Palmyra

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian media reported that the country’s engineering units are using state-of-the-art robotic technology to cleanse newly liberated regions of mines and bombs.

Zvezda news channel reported that the Russian engineering units have utilized detector robotic systems, named Scarabi and Safira, in the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur) in Homs province.

Scarabi is a little system to collect sounds and videos from the areas which are difficult to access for humans and it sends the information to remote control systems through radio waves.

Safira system has also been designed for far-fetched areas. It can resist strikes and is equipped with four cameras which detects the bomb and defuses it while standing in a safe place.

Meantime, reports from Palmyra said on Wednesday that the Syrian army troops continued to hit ISIL’s defense lines in Eastern Homs, forcing the terrorist group to retreat from vast regions Northeast of the ancient city.

The army soldiers won another battle against ISIL and drove them out of a set of strategic hills near Mount al-Qataar 25km Northeast of Palmyra.

The ISIL suffered a number of casualties and its military hardware and vehicles sustained major damage in the attack.

Reports also said on Saturday that the Syrian Air Force bombed a long convoy of ISIL’s vehicles carrying a large volume of arms and ammunition in countryside of Palmyra, destroying several vehicles and killing their crew and guards.
