Palmyra: ISIL’s Arms, Ammunition Convoy Destroyed in Syrian Airstrike

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Air Force bombed a long convoy of ISIL’s vehicles carrying a large volume of arms and ammunition in countryside of the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur), destroying several vehicles and killing their crew and guards.

The army aircraft targeted a long convoy of ISIL’s vehicles while retreating from al-Sawaneh region along a road towards al-Tanf passageway, destroying at least three trucks with a large volume of weapons and munitions on board.

A number of ISIL militants were also killed or wounded in the air raid.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery and missile units opened heavy fire at ISIL’s defense lines and movements in Zeitoun farms, Zahour al-Barsheh, Rashed Farm and Mount Ibn Arsan South of Fat’ha Mahsameh in Southwestern Homs, killing or wounding a large number of terrorists and destroying their army and ammunition.    

In relevant developments in the province on Thursday, the government troops fended off repeated attacks by several ISIL-affiliated groups on a number of army positions in Eastern Homs, inflicting heavy losses on them.

The army units opened heavy fire on ISIL terrorists who intended to enter several military points in Saniyeh al-Mazibeleh hills in Eastern Homs from the direction of the Fatha al-Mahsa region, Sawaneh al-Mahsa mountain and al-Quaryatayn dam with continued artillery and missile fire.

During the operations, tens of ISIL militants were killed and wounded and several of their military vehicles and equipment were smashed.
