Moscow: We are ready to cooperate with Iran in the field of ground gas corridors

After a meeting with Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, the cabinet of the Russian government issued a statement, according to the Mehr News Agency.

Alexander Novak and Mohsen Paknejad announced their readiness to continue working on joint projects of new gas routes from Russia to Iran during talks, the statement said.

“The parties also expressed their readiness to continue working on joint projects of new gas routes from Russia to Iran, noting that Russia is ready to help expand trade and economic relations between the Eurasia and Iran Economic Union,” the statement added.

In these talks, the parties also referred to the successful interaction of their countries within the framework of the OPEC Plus agreement and the platform of the Gas Exporting Countries Assembly.

“Iran is still a reliable Russian strategic partner,” Alexander Novak said. Relations between our countries are constantly strengthening and expanding through all key areas of cooperation. Iran is the only Russian partner outside the Commonwealth, which has a high place in three international organizations. The country is a complete member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Brix, as well as the status of the Eurasia Economic Union.

He added: In January this year, an important historical event took place in Russian -Iran relations. The presidents of our countries have signed a new intercity agreement that formally established the strategic nature of Russian -Iran participation. This agreement includes key principles for further development of Russian -Iranian relations, including in the fuel and energy sector.
