Blast rocks market in Syria's Aleppo Province

An explosion reportedly occurred in the market area of Tell Rifaat, Aleppo Governorate, on the evening of Dec. 31. The blast resulted in at least six casualties and some material damage in the area. The cause of the explosion is unclear. However, reports suggest an improvised explosive device may have detonated.

Heightened security and associated ground travel disruptions are likely near the blast site over the coming hours.
