Iran, Turkmenistan talks open new chapter in bilateral ties

Foreign ministers of Iran and Turkmenistan, along with their accompanying delegations, examined ways to strengthen bilateral relations, as well as to discuss the regional issues.

Attaching a great significance to Zarif’s visit to Ashgabat, Muradov pointed out the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and Turkmenistan, adding “today talks paved the way for achieving a new level in mutual ties.”

Muradov also said the meetings and negotiations with Iranian officials has openned a new chapter in the relations between the two countries.

Iranian FM also met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on Monday and discussed the need to expand cooperation and find necessary approaches to achieve the aim.

Calling as ‘strong’ the economic, political, cultural, social and international relations between the two countries, Zarif said the 25 years of successful cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan is an important event, noting Turkmen officials displayed determination for banking cooperation based on national currency.
