Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said in a message on the X -Social Network that four people have been arrested since March 5, following “illegal” protests in the country.

Following the arrest of Akram Imam Oglu, the mayor of Istanbul, Turkey's largest city was forbidden for four days on March 4, banning any demonstrations and protests throughout the metropolis.

In the wake of requests to intensify the demonstrations at the end of the week, officials in the cities of Ankara and Izmir have imposed a five -day restriction on March 5 and enforced more strict rules.

Widespread protests began after Imamoglu's arrest in Istanbul and took dozens to the streets in various Turkish cities. The demonstrations of students and youth, most of whom came to the streets for what they have called their right and justice, have been oppressed and suppressed by security forces and police.
