Grand Mosque Witnessing Increasing Number of Worshippers  

(IQNA) – Following the ease of restrictions related to the , the Grand is seeing an increasing number of pilgrims by the day participate in congregational prayers.


An official with the Grand Mosque says after the decision to increase the capacity of the mosque, some precautionary measures have also been adopted, Bawabat-Al Ahram reported.

Among the measures one can point to deployment of 780 personnel on organizing and grouping the pilgrims, 200 personnel on the gates of the mosque, and 500 individuals for emergency and security issues.

Special groups, comprising a total of 400 pepole, are responsible for sterilization and perform disinfection 10 times a day.

Furthermore, some 500 automatic devices and 20 robots for hand sterilization and 550 manual sterilization stations have been deployed across the mosque.

Arabia announced lifting of restrictions in the Two Holy since October 17.

According to the new announcement, worshipers and pilgrims who have received both doses are now able to visit the Holy Mosques in Mecca and Medina while wearing a mask and using the Umrah tracking app.

Masks in open spaces will no longer be mandatory for fully-vaccinated people, although members of the public must still wear them in closed spaces and areas that are not monitored by the Tawakkalna tracing app, the ministry added in a statement carried by the Saudi Agency.

Social distancing regulations have also been dropped and public places, , restaurants, cinemas, and other gatherings monitored by Tawakkalna will be allowed to operate at full capacity once again for people who have received both vaccine doses.
