Candidates for council elections can have a virtual election headquarters

According to Mehr reporter, the representatives of the Islamic Council approved the article 44 of this law in today's public session of the parliament and during the review of the amendment to the law on the organization, duties and elections of the Islamic councils of the country and the election of mayors and villagers, as follows:

Article 44- An article is added to the law as repeated Article 75 4 as follows:

Repeated Article 75 4- The Election Campaign Headquarters is the center where the election and campaign activities of the candidates and their supporters are organized and carried out, and similar titles such as People's Headquarters, Center, Assembly, Fan Center, etc. are considered “campaign headquarters”.

Each candidate can have a main headquarters and a subsidiary headquarters for the number of municipal districts. Also, each candidate can have a separate women's headquarters. The candidate is obliged to announce the address of the headquarters and also the head of the respective headquarters to the executive board of the city and department.

Also, each candidate can have a virtual election headquarters in the form of a website and is obliged to announce the exact address and details of the portal, as well as its person in charge, to the executive board of the city and district.

The candidate is obliged to link other legitimate virtual portals such as social messenger and program put it on the mentioned website. All advertisements and electoral activities of the candidate in the virtual space are done only on this website and the introduced portals. The Ministry of Interior, through the relevant executive board, makes essential content for public information such as regulations, instructions and announcements available to the public. The candidate is obliged to inform the officials of the headquarters and supporters of the legal requirements.

Note 1 – At the end of the legal deadline for advertisements, all election headquarters will be closed, and the activities of virtual headquarters and publishing portals, as well as all candidate advertisements on various portals, will be stopped until the end of the official announcement of the election results.

Note 2- The candidates and officials of the headquarters are obliged to supervise the real and virtual headquarters and are responsible for the actions committed in the headquarters. In case of committing electoral crimes in the headquarters, in addition to the punishment of the perpetrator, the candidate will also be sentenced to the seventh degree of punishment under Article (19) of the Islamic Penal Code for electoral crimes committed in real and virtual headquarters.
