Warning about severe storms due to climate change in Tehran

According to Mehr News Agency, the second day of the crisis management training course was held in Tehran

Ali Nasiri, head of the Tehran Crisis Prevention and Management Organization, said that the main purpose of this course is to familiarize district mayors with fundamental and specialized concepts in the field of crisis management, adding that a set of specialized training courses is included in the program that will play an effective role in promoting local authorities' knowledge and readiness.

Following the program, a report was presented and analyzed by some recent events in Tehran. The head of the organization, while examining these incidents, cited factors such as the lack of an accident command system, disregard for HSE requirements, failure to comply with safety guidelines, weaknesses in the evaluation of contractors' qualifications and other structural problems.

Referring to the impact of climate change and the emergence of phenomena such as severe storms up to 5 kilometers per hour in Tehran, he emphasized the need for more preparation for these developments.

Nasiri also introduced four priority risks in the city of Tehran and noted: These risks have been selected from the four identified hazards and can be classified into two general categories including HSE -related risks and crisis risks.

He further outlined the structure of the Tehran Metropolitan Crisis Management Staff and explained: “This structure is defined in three levels including metropolis, two specialized workgroups, and urban areas and areas that must be expanded to the level.”

Emphasizing the importance of prevention, Nasiri paid risk management and described concepts such as the crisis management cycle, risks, vulnerability, capacity, danger and resilience.

Following this workshop, issues such as physical safety evaluation of Tehran buildings, the phenomenon of collapse, the capital against flood risk, meteorological management, crane safety monitoring Tower And public school safety evaluation was examined and the measures taken in these areas were explained.
