Lavrov: Russia will remain a reliable African partner

A ceremony was held on the occasion of Africa Day with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Cameron's ambassador to the Russian Federation in Moscow, according to the Mehr News Agency.

“Our country has always wanted to expand traditional and friendly relations with African partners,” said Lavrov, referring to the strategic role of the African continent in international historical and political developments.

He also emphasized Moscow's support for economic development and education in African countries, adding that Russia will remain a reliable partner to strengthen the sovereignty of African countries.

At the ceremony, Paba Year, while appreciating Russia's historical role in the process of independence of African countries, said: “Russia has always supported African nations for progress and these relations are of particular importance.”

He also pointed to the role of Russian universities in training specialized human resources for the African continent and the expansion of bilateral trade relations as helpful and effective in improving local economies. The Cameron ambassador expressed hope that the partnership would be strengthened in the years and praised Russia's continued support.

On the other hand, Cuban President Miguel Diaz Connell also emphasized the historical impact of Africa on the formation of Cuban national identity in a message released by Princesa Latina Media (TV Breix), saying: “We celebrate Africa Day; The continent where an important part of our ancestors lived and their role in the formation of Cuba is unmatched.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also said that Cuban people are proud of this day.

Meanwhile, Rahmatullah Mohammed Osman, a permanent representative of the African Union in China, also called the day a symbol of the unity of African countries, referring to the Tanzania-Remzabia Railway project, and a prominent role in the development of China.

Africa is held every year in year 2 to commemorate the establishment of the African Unity Organization (now called the African Union). This day is a symbol of the unity of African nations and their efforts to independence, freedom and social justice.
