Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian of Iran says putting an immediate end to the crimes of Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza and dispatching humanitarian aid are urgent priorities given the critical circumstances in the fully besieged territory.

In a phone call with Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf late on Thursday, Amir-Abdollahian said Muslim countries must ramp up diplomatic consultations to stop the regime’s war machine against the defenseless people of Gaza.

The Iranian minister reiterated Tehran’s policy towards the issue of Palestine and its unwavering support for the Palestinians. He said the Iranian Red Crescent Society is ready to send food and medicine to Gaza through Egypt.

Israel’s savage bombardment of Gaza followed the surprise Operation al-Aqsa Storm by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas on October 7.

The unprecedented Palestinian operation, according to resistance groups, came in response to months-long desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque and increased Israeli violence against Palestinians.

More than 4,100 Palestinians, mainly civilians, have been killed across the Gaza Strip in Israeli bombardments, according to figures from the health ministry in the besieged coastal strip. Nearly 13,500 have also been injured.

For his part, the Algerian foreign minister said the current situation in Palestine is the outcome of the failure of political proposals to help Palestinians achieve their legitimate right of having an independent country.

Attaf also urged a stop to the violence against the innocent Palestinian civilians and the immediate provision of humanitarian aid to people in the Gaza Strip.

In a post on his X account earlier on Thursday, the top Iranian diplomat said the Muslim world will never tolerate the Zionists’ war crimes against women and children in the Gaza Strip.
