Floods in the north of Namibia left 2 dead

The regional council Ohang Vena On Wednesday, since the flood began on April 1, a total of 5 households with 5 people, including children under five, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, have been transferred to eight temporary camps.

According to the report, the flood has drowns agricultural farms and surrounds the villages, making it difficult to access relief teams to the affected areas.

The report said that the relationship between some villages is completely cut off and helicopters are used to deliver food and medical services. Also, four schools in the area have been affected, with 4 schools being forced to close due to high levels of water.

A total of 2 students and 5 teachers have been affected, the report said. Some schools have been reopened, while others are planning to hold classrooms and holidays to make up for the lost time.

Health teams have treated more than 5 patients through relief activities, but shortage of drugs, equipment and transportation still prevent services.

The District Council has recommended that the Prime Minister's office be provided as urgent aid, mosquitoes, mattresses, toilets and more food for 4 people.

Ohang VenaLocated in the north of Namibia and borders with Angola, one of the areas that is the most susceptible to seasonal floods due to rainfall. In recent years, floods have repeatedly displaced residents of these areas, destroyed agricultural products, and disrupted educational and health services.
